Workgroup Technology Partners, Inc. today announced that Jack Eaton, the firm’s President and CEO, has decided to retire effective October 15, 2020. Michael Eaton will serve as President and CEO of the company upon Eaton’s retirement.Eaton has served in his current role since he founded the company as a full-service IT firm with his wife, Gerda, in March 1996, and prior to that, worked as sales manager with Sun Microsystems, where he oversaw regional sales and management in the northeast. Jack got his start with computers in the early 60’s with the US Army missile control and fire systems.During Jack Eatons tenure as President & CEO, he played a critical role in helping the firm adapt to significant changes in technology, management and growth. Over the next few years, Jack brought on three highly-talented partners to the company: Wayne Krauth, Dan Russell, and Bill McKeen. In the process, he served as a champion for establishing new partnerships in the technology industry.
In 1998, Workgroup Technology Partners launched a wholly-owned subsidiary, Insurance Automation Group, which specialized in software development for the insurance surety and bonding industry, which today, provides software solutions to many of the largest surety/bonding companies in the USA.

Following the launch of the insurance division, Jack led the company in re-branding Workgroup Technology to WGTech, a division specializing in managed IT, technical support and systems engineering.

Jack and Gerda are looking forward to spending time with their growing generations of family, their passion for boating on the ocean, and enjoying the beautiful Western Maine foothills where they reside today.
